The Austrian National Library

Today, I went to the Austrian National Library b/c of an exhibition there about Hitler's (in)famous Anschluss speech.

(This is a cute souvenir shop around the corner from it.)

One side of the library

I think I've already posted a photo of this balcony, but this is where Hitler delivered the Anschluss on March 13, 1938.

Inside this entrance...

This entrance led to museums.

On the other side of the building was the entrance for the exhibition.

I went up this GORGEOUS staircase!

Here we go - the library!

Doesn't it look just like the library
in the movie "Beauty and the Beast"?
Soooo breathtaking!

The exhibition detailed how the Anschluss occurred, its aftermath, and formerly-prominent Viennese Jews and their reactions to the Anschluss.

These are journals from one of a Jewish woman who had been exiled.  She had kept newspaper clippings in them and detailed accounts of the days of that era.

These black pillars had been at the entrance where I entered the library.

I took this photo because the location for it is
at the exact train stop where my apartment is.  (!)

The library was soooo incredible, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Vienna!

Just a cool door I saw in the side of the building on my way out.
:-P
