A quickie, summer update

I have been home in Indiana for over a month now, and I've been super busy with a multitude of things pretty much since the week I returned home.  I haven't had much new information to share on this blog until within this past week, so that's why there hasn't been anything new posted since May.

Here's a quickie update from me:

  • Some plans have changed in regards to the housing for the single women, so now, I will be living by myself, which was my first choice.  I'm fine with this and am used to living this way by now, so I'm mentally ready for adjusting to a new living space alone for the third time.

  • My apartment will be tiny, I've been told.  It's currently in the process of being fixed up and repainted by the owner, and it won't be completed until the end of August/beginning of September.  Therefore, when I first arrive in Vienna, I'll be staying in an apartment with the elementary principal, who's also single and named Amanda, until mine is ready.  I'm not able to see any photos of my apartment because of its renovation, but it's in an old building and will be modern inside.

  • My German vocabulary has not expanded much this summer, unfortunately, like I'd thought it would.  I didn't anticipate being so busy with so many things.  I hope to take a slow-paced German course that the school will offer next semester.

  • God's been teaching me a lot lately as I've worked on raising support, spending time with friends and family, and reconnecting with people from my church.  Things have happened while I've been home that have reaffirmed I'm supposed to work at ICSV for the next 2 years, and I've enjoyed my time at home immensely!  It's been a faith-filled summer!

  • I can't believe I leave for Vienna in just 2 1/2 weeks!  I leave on Sunday afternoon, August 5th, and will arrive on the 6th, along with the other new teachers.  Some people from the school will pick us up, and then we'll spend our first week unpacking and getting acquainted with the city life before we begin our teacher training.

I'll do my best to post once more before I leave!  :)
